“We applaud Governor Beshear’s decision to raise the minimum wage and tipped wage for Kentucky’s state workers,” Jason Bailey, executive director of the Kentucky Center for Economic Policy, said. “This is a key step to economic stability for all Kentuckians, and allows state government to join a growing number of private and public sector employers–plus states and cities–who are showing that raising the wage can and should be done. We encourage state lawmakers to follow the governor’s lead and pass a statewide minimum wage and tipped wage increase in the 2016 legislative session.”
“In the meantime, we encourage legislative and judicial branch leaders to increase the minimum wage for their employees and local governments to take action to raise wages for workers in their areas.”
